St Neots is the largest and fastest-growing town in Cambridgeshire, with a population of over 40,000 people. It was named after Cornish monk St Neot, whose bones were stolen from the village of St Neot on Bodmin Moor. St Neots dates back to Medieval Times, when the Priory was founded. Its properties are a very broad mix of period, Elizabethan, Victorian, Edwardian, Modern and New Builds.
St Neots has incredible transport links, both road and rail, connecting the town with London in 50 minutes by train and all other parts of the country via the nearby A1 and A14 major roads. Cambridge is 19 miles away, Peterborough 30 miles and London just 60 miles by road. Within a few miles of St Neots are the nearby communities of Eaton Ford, Eaton Socon and Eynesbury, alongside classic English villages of Eltisley, Abbotsley, and Great Gransden.
The town provides easy access to numerous private schools in Cambridge, Bedford and Kimbolton. There's also a wide selection of state schools, including Longsands Community College. The St Neots Museum attracts many visitors wishing to learn more about the rich history of this market town and St Neots Parish Church attracts many to explore and climb the church tower for a magnificent view of St Neots in July and August.
Younger residents enjoy the skate-park by the river, the Eat ‘n’ Bowl bowling alley, One Leisure Sports Centre with swimming pool, gym and outside courts and the new Rowley Arts Centre with cinema, community room/stage and three well-known chain restaurants. For the sportier locals, there are two golf clubs, a rowing and dragon-boating club, two football clubs, a rugby club, a tennis and table-tennis club, triathlon and running clubs, and both Wyboston Lakes Leisure complex and Paxton Pits Nature Reserve hosting water sports.
Chief amongst St Neots’ attractions are the large 12th Century market square with a market every Thursday and a Saturday farmer’s market most months. The delightful riverside park with its picturesque scenery boasts a snack bar, restaurant and bar overlooking the river, and hosts the annual regatta, which is well-received by locals and visitors. The Priory Centre, on the banks of the river is a beautiful setting for a wedding or conference, hosting local and regional theatre productions, live music events, evening Bingo and café with river terrace which is perfect to enjoy lunch, a coffee or a glass of wine. The high street boasts numerous pubs, bars and restaurants, as well as franchised coffee outlets and delightful local tea shops.
